The 996/997 Targas utilised the same roof system first seen in the 993 Targas, and offers the best of both worlds - a coupe with a beautiful and expansive glasshouse protecting you from the elements with the roof up, and a cabriolet with a huge open space to let the wind rush through your hair with the roof in its open position. This generation of Targa also has the added benefit of being the only 911 model to be a hatchback as well, as the rear window can be opened to give access to the parcel shelf behind the rear seats.
